One of the reasons I really like your podcast is that I learn new things. Like you a few years ago, I have never heard of Midori or Traveler’s Notebooks. My journal goes with me everywhere and when it is full, it goes on a shelf with its friends/brethren and I start a new one. I create a new cover for each journal out of fabric.
My favorite journal, for many years now, is the Miquelrius. I prefer gridded in the ~8×8 size. I can’t fit is in my handbag, but it goes well in my workbag or Timbuktu. Recently I tried a Leuchturm, which are hard to find (Flax in San Mateo) and a little on the pricey side. My main criteria after size is the kind of paper. Both the Miquelrius and the Leuchturm take the ink from Pilot G2 and Zebra Sarasa pens very well. No bleeding and the pen feels good rolling over the paper. The Leuchturm is fantastic on all counts and has a printed space for an index, which is a fantastic idea for any journal and easy to make on my own with any brand. Both are linear, however, which works for me, but I can see the appeal of the system you are describing for changing things out as needed.
I am still a little confused about the Midori system, though less confused. Now I want to look up Midori and explore some of your links. I hope you haven’t sent me down a rabbit hole!
No need to apologize for the length! That is what the pause button is for. ;-0
