Episode 316 of the CMP, a Creativity Matters Podcast
In this episode of the CMP, a quick check-in during a birthday week, which means the CMP also just passed the 12 year mark. Some random thoughts on looking back and looking in the mirror, a bit of ICAD talk as I think about the spectrum I am navigating between line and color, and then a list of reminders for you on your creative journey and a soapbox discussion of being willing to “start,” to “be new,” to grow and explore and learn through repetition and practice in whatever medium is of interest. If you find you really don’t enjoy the process, then shift, but if you shift only because you don’t think you are as good as you wish you were, you are not giving yourself the benefit of the journey and where it may lead.
Birthdays make me philosophic and introspective, sometimes melancholy, and often wistful. But in truth, the timing makes it so that I rarely have time to indulge in it, to let myself work things out in my head or on paper. So, you get the jumble today. Between and beneath and interwoven with the rambling words are sincere thoughts for you and your creative practice. This show is my gift to me and my humble gift to you.
This is the last show for a few weeks. Enjoy your summer and your ongoing projects. Be bold. Be fearless. Be willing. Be open. And reach.
If you don’t follow me at Instagram, I hope you’ll check me out there. Watching my numbers go up and then drop back down over and over and over is a demoralizing waltz of sorts. I’d love to connect with you there.
