Episode 395 of the CMP, a Creativity Matters Podcast — climbing yet another set of gorgeous tiled steps (again) and seeing an unexpected Ferris wheel in the distance
In this episode of the CMP, climbing a set of tiled steps on the way to 50 leads to moments of perspective, reminders to appreciate what is within reach (or driving distance) and to remember to look with new eyes, and an unexpected sighting in the distance, plus, what felt like gale-force winds. Climbing the lower stairs was the goal that day, a process of revisiting and appreciating them. But we went ahead and climbed another set from the top where we could see the entire city. And, in the distance… a ferris wheel where there has never been a ferris wheel.
An abbreviated discussion of a book today. I was excited to look at this book for the CMP because of the colorful, fanciful, whimsical, dot-shifting illustrations and borderless graphic novel layout. But, the book, Panther, is very dark (and not for kids). It isn’t a typical pick for the CMP, but there’s something wonderful about the art. If your library has it, give it a look. (It’s dark. You do you.)
ICAD is in process. If you are looking for a bit of ICAD talk, tune in to Episode 394.
What? There’s been an error at the start of the show for how long now? And no one mentioned it! When I detected the error tonight, I thought I must have created that error this evening. I opened up the last handful of files to check, and the error is in all of them. The way I start the editing for each show, and even the way I go back at the very end and double-check the show before finalizing each episode, wasn’t catching that problem with the opening seconds! Lesson learned. I can’t believe no one mentioned it to me :(
We are still in a pandemic
It can be easy to get weighed down by everything going on, by the anxiety and the uncertainty. But there are silver linings and gifts. I encourage you to look for them.
(The looking, in and of itself, offers a different mindset. You might find that the act of seeking and discovering helps shift your perspective in meaningful ways.)

A note about Trello: I’m feeling really productive with my reading and my “To Read” list this year using Trello. I use Trello for other things, including tracking my 50 Before 50 list, but I am finding new book lover’s peace this year with Trello boards set up to help me keep track of books I want to read, Kindle books I snag on a deal, books I hear about in groups or on other podcasts, and then the books I actually am reading or listening to. If you haven’t tried Trello, you should! (It’s free!)
