Episode 456 of the CMP, a Creativity Matters Podcast — A December List — Ideas to draw, record, document in your sketchbook or journal all month long
This is a short show, one of a pair that will be coming out for December. I call this one a palate cleanser. As I said it though, I thought how funny it is that it sounds like “palette cleanser,” and that, really, they might not be that different in sentiment. While this show occupies the palate cleanser space (as a go-between between the show about gratitude and the next show), it became a show of its own with a list of nudges for December drawing, recording, documentation, and journaling.
Enjoy!

- I am on Day 35 now of the 100 day dress challenge and thoroughly enjoying it.
- I am aware the site is broken and has no navigation. It’s proving a challenge to solve.
- I have switched this year from colored lights to white and am thinking this is an awesome evolution.
- I am planning to do an “embroidery journal” next year and have been experimenting to see if I can wrangle icons into very small spaces with needle and thread. Here’s a recent article if you are interested in learning more: An Embroidery Journal is the Best 2022 New Year’s Resolution to Make
- I think I might need a “needle minder” now – I was brushing my teeth last night and reached down to discover I had a needle with a scrap of thread stuck into my pajama pants!
- But I am aware of the Diderot Effect. This is not the article I first read about it recently, but this one by James Clear (of Atomic Habits) popped up tonight, and it’s a good overview.
- I just finished listening to Becoming Mrs. Lewis (about Joy Davidman and C.S. Lewis)
